Let’s Put Mental Health on the Agenda and Change the Narrative on Social Media Together!
Update from Thomas: The winners have been found and have received the prize money. Hosting this scholarship was personally very rewarding, and I hope to be able to do it again in the future. For the time being, it is however not something I can say when will happen.
Contractor Quotes is proud to announce its first scholarship program ever. Two winners will each receive $1,000 to help pay for their education related expenses. At Contractor Quotes, we believe the way social media is currently being used has damaging effects on this generation’s youth. Through this initiative, we hope to raise awareness for mental health and change the narrative on social media, breaking the taboo of talking about depression and other challenging periods.
In order to apply for and be considered for the Overcoming Obstacles Scholarship, please complete the following steps.
- Write your story about a time you were overcoming obstacles and post it to Facebook along with hashtag #OvercomingObstaclesScholarship. Make sure your post is published with public sharing settings for verification purposes.
- Fill out the application form at the bottom of this page.
- We will either stop accepting submissions if we reach 2,500 eligible submissions, or no later than 11:59 PM EST, June 30, 2017, whichever comes first. We therefore encourage you to submit your story as early as possible.
We have been working together with the Charcot-Marie-Tooth Association to receive the first story about overcoming obstacles to inspire your submission. Although both stories included on this page relates to CMT, we encourage anyone brave enough to share their story of overcoming obstacles to apply.
To qualify for the scholarship, you must either be a current full-time student at any educational facility, be in possession of an acceptance letter into an educational facility, or have graduated within the last five years. The scholarship program is open to people of all nationalities.
How will applicants be reviewed?
The winning submissions will be manually chosen because they played a significant role in fueling the debate about mental health. Ten of the most inspiring stories will be chosen, and among them, two will be chosen at random to win the scholarship. The winners’ eligibility will be checked before coordinating the transfer of the scholarship payment. If a winner is found to not be eligible, a new winner will be chosen instead.
The decisions will be made by a representative from Contractor Quotes. All decisions are final.
